Uruguayan club rugby is preparing to return to activity, which had been suspended after the worsening of the health emergency in the country caused by COVID-19. After the stop, It was confirmed that on July 17 the Uruguayan First Division Championship will officially return.
After having received the authorization from the government authorities, the URU works on the return of the activity, with a Championship adapted to the circumstances and the reduced calendar.
The weekend of July 10 and 11 will be used as a window for clubs to play friendly matches, while on July 17 the Uruguayan First Division Championship will be officially reactivated with the dispute of the Qualifier, which will consist of three dates.
In Group A will be Carrasco Polo, Montevideo Cricket, Lobos and Círculo, Group B will be made up of Old Christians, PSG, Los Cuervos and Seminario, while Group C will have Trébol, Old Boys, Ceibos and Champagnat.
The six teams with the best scores will play in the Uruguayan Top 6, while the remaining six teams will compete in the Relocation.
The Top 6 will be played all against all on two wheels (10 dates) and the 4 best positioned will enter the semifinals to define that instance in playoff format.
The Relocation will be played in two series in which they will play all against all on two wheels (10 dates). The first of each series and the second with the best score will enter the semi-final instance, where a team entered from the Interior Championship will also play.
The National Championship will be contested by the 6 teams from the Top 6 and the two teams classified between the Relocation and the Interior.
It will be played in Playoffs format with quarterfinals, semifinals and final.
