This Tuesday the Formula 1 confirmed sad news for the calendar. The Australian Grand Prix, one of the classics of recent years, was canceled due to the complications of the pandemic. However, the FIA and the highest category are already managing so that one of the most exciting races of 2020 is once again present on this year’s calendar.
Faced with this gap in the race list, Formula 1 is already negotiating with the circuit of Bahrain to be able to host a race again this year. According to several European media, the external layout of the Bahrain circuit is the one with the best chances of seeing a race again. Many fans are already waiting for the 2020 edition to be repeated, where Czech Pérez won with Racing point.
However, Bahrain is not the only replacement possibility for the Australian GP. Two other German circuits are awaiting a response: Nurburgring Y Hockenheimring. In addition, the chance that the circuit of Austin, in the USA, have two races in a row, just like in Austria the last two weekends.
Although Australia is already a definitive loss, there are other races that are pending to be confirmed. One of them is the Brazilian Grand Prix. The epidemiological situation of the South American country and the danger of pilots landing on our continent due to the pandemic, make the race on the circuit of Interlagos take serious risk.
On the other hand, the Japanese Grand Prix it could also be canceled. This is due to restrictions due to the pandemic of COVID–19, which would complicate the schedule. However, Formula 1 already has several alternatives in mind. The first is a second race in Austin or a move to the historic Indianapolis. Also, in case Japan is not host, Shanghai could replace it or that tracing Sepang go back to the calendar.
