Two historic MotoGP riders would race again this season

A few weeks ago the paddock of MotoGP echoed news more than surprising. Dani Pedrosa, a historic rider in the category, could return to running at the highest level after two years of absence. The Spanish retired at the end of 2018 while being in the team Repsol Honda, becoming a tester of KTM, where they assure that it was thanks to him that there was enormous progress on the bike.

The head of the Austrian structure, Pit Beirer, He confirmed a few weeks ago that Pedrosa was going to run a race for the KTM team in the next few days. However, everything seems to indicate that the return of the ‘Samurai’ would already have a date: the Austrian Grand Prix. The rumors of Pedrosa’s return are getting stronger and stronger, and the only thing missing is the official confirmation from the team for this to be possible.

The MotoGP Australian Grand Prix was also canceled and now has a replacement

“We will definitely see Dani this year. At some point we will handle a ‘Wild Card’ with him as soon as we believe that the package for 2022 is ready. We would like Dani to return to a GP circuit. The final decision still rests with Dani Pedrosa himself. You have to tell us if you want to re-expose yourself to the pressure and stress of a GP weekend. But he told us he wanted to, ”Beirer said.

However, it would not be the only historic comeback in the MotoGP paddock. Like Pedrosa, another tester would return to a circuit: Cal crutchlow. Actually in Yamaha, Crutchlow would also be in Austria although he would do so as a replacement for Franco Morbidelli, next to Valentino rossi in the team Yamaha petronas.

Morbidelli is recovering from a severe injury to his right leg. The Italian was operated on before MotoGP disputed his career at the circuit of Assen, where he could not attend. However, the medical recovery periods would have been extended more than expected and ‘Morbido’ would miss the first date after the summer break.
