Báez was isolated in Hamburg by COVID-19

Bad news at the ATP 500 in Hamburg: Argentine Sebastián Báez, who won his first tour match against Corentin Moutet at the tournament premiere and was to be measured in the round of 16 with Nikoloz Basilashvili, he tested positive for COVID-19.

No symptoms at the moment and accompanied by his coach Sebastián Gutiérrez and doctor Enrique Prada, the 164-ranked tennis player was isolated in the hotel where he is staying in Germany.

“With the support of my family and team, I will get ahead of this difficult moment that I have to go through. I know that the road is long and next year I will come back much stronger than this one”, confessed in the first person.

For the same tournament, Federico Delbonis (48th) and Juan Pablo Varillas (130th) had an auspicious presentation although they went by different paths. The Azulean worked for more than two hours against the Chinese Zhizhen Zhang (161 °) to beat him 6-1, 5-7 and 6-4. On the Peruvian side, it was something more express. He beat Indian Sumit Nagal (154th) in straight sets: 6-0 and 6-4.
