San Pablo de Hernán Crespo will seek this Tuesday at home to ratify its football recovery that seems to have been on the line in recent days when it faces Racing Club de Avellenada, in the first leg for the round of 16 of the CONMEBOL Libertadores.
Sao Pablo comes from beating Bahia 1-0 at home on Saturday, with a goal from midfielder Liziero and a result that leaves the São Paulo team in box 14 of Serie A of the Brazilian Championship with 11 points, 14 behind the leader and neighbor Palmeiras.
The result strengthens San Pablo, who started badly at Brasileirao and in the Libertadores group stage finished second in E, just behind Racing, with whom they drew 0-0 at Avellaneda and fell 1-0 at Morumbí, the same stadium for the game on Tuesday.
To face the Argentines, the homeowners have the absences of the experienced captain Dani Alves, concentrated with the Under 23 team that will play the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, which he arrived as one of the 3 free-age players; and the injured Miranda, Emiliano Rigoni and Luciano.
With the absence of the experienced Miranda, former Atlético de Madrid of Spain, Crespo will have to keep Diego Costa in the line of three defenders along with the Ecuadorian Robert Arboleda and Leo.
In the position of the Argentine midfielder Rigoni, the coach has the doubt between Wélington and Gabriel Sara, while for the attack, the position of the striker Luciano is disputed by Pablo and the Ecuadorian Joao Rojas. Paraguayan forward Atonio Galeano will remain on the substitute bench.
Racing, meanwhile, has been training in recent weeks taking advantage of the break from the Argentine tournament.
The team led by Juan Antonio Pizzi has in its ranks the experienced Chileans Gabriel Arias and Eugenio Mena, a winger who went through various Brazilian clubs such as San Pablo, Cruzeiro de Belo Horizonte, Santos, Sport Recife and Bahia.
The attacker Lisandro López, ex-Internacional from Porto Alegre and who returned to Racing after a fleeting stint at Atlanta United of the United States, will start on the substitute bench.
The return match will be played on July 20 at the Juan Domingo Perón de Avellaneda stadium.
