Tsitsipas makes winning debut in Hamburg

Stefanos Tsitsipas, first seed of the Hamburg tournament, defeated German Dominik Koepfer in the eighth for 7-6 (2) and 6-3, in one hour and forty-five minutes.

The Greek returned to the competition after signing a disappointing Wimbledon, where he fell in the first round and in three sets against the American Frances Tiafoe.

Tsitsipas, who reached the final in the previous edition of the Hamburg tournament, returns to one of his favorite surfaces, where this season he won the title at the Lyon and Monte-Carlo tournaments, as well as reaching the final at Roland Garros and the Barcelona tournament.

The tennis player from Athens, current number four in the world, has the possibility of surpassing the Spanish Rafael Nadal in the ranking this week, who is currently third, provided he manages to win the title in this tournament next weekend.
