Charles Leclerc is the great promise of Ferrari for the next few years. The Monegasque is one of the figures of the Italian team and together with Carlos Sainz they will seek to return the Scuderia to the title fight. That is why Leclerc spoke on Wednesday and made it clear that he wants to continue at Ferrari for several more years, and does not rule out retiring with the red car in the future: “It would be forever.”
In a note to the official Formula 1 podcast, Leclerc spoke about his present and his future in the Italian team. Together with Sainz they are forming one of the best couples on the grid, due to their talent, but above all, they impose a great relationship between them. This is shown from race to race, where they tend to joke together.
Leclerc said that when he arrived in Formula 1, he always had one goal in mind and that was to get to Ferrari. For me, it was an incredible opportunity. The first time I knew that I was going to be a Ferrari driver, I couldn’t believe it, and it’s a dream for me ”, the Monegasque commented to the Formula 1 Podcast, which has already clarified that he will continue for many more years in the category.
“For me it was not a risk, I signed for five years with the team I have always dreamed of being. Of course we are going through more difficult times now, but what it does is motivate me to put even more pressure on the team to get it back to where it belongs, “said Leclerc.
Finally, Leclerc commented that the extension of the contract does not depend on him, since in his words, he would spend his whole life at Ferrari. “Of course yes, it would be forever. But I would be even happier if we won again, because that’s what matters, and I know that’s what the whole team cares about as well. We are pushing to win again because this is what this team is used to doing ”, he declared.
