Torino presented this Friday its new away shirt inspired by River Plate to celebrate its “eternal friendship” with the Argentine club, to which it has been linked since the tragic plane crash in which the entire Torino squad died in 1949.
The one that will be the second kit for the 2021/2022 season is white and with a maroon stripe that crosses the shield and emulates the red of the River.
Inside the collar you can read an inscription that combines Italian with Spanish and serves as a tribute to the twinning between the clubs: “Eterna amicizia. Torino, 26 maggio 1949. Eterna amigo”.

Torino thus celebrates the bond born as a result of the friendly played between “Torino Simbolo”, a selection of the best players of the moment in Italian Serie A, and River Plate, to remember the “invincible” of “Grande Torino” , one of the strongest squads in Italy at the time of the plane crash on the Superga hill in Turin.
That team was able to win Serie A five times in a row, between 1942 and 1949 (the championship was interrupted for two years because of the war) and was undefeated at the league level from 1943 to 1950.
The home shirt maintains the characteristic crimson color of the Turin club and includes the motto on the inside of the neck: “Garnet is a second skin”.
