Stefanos Tsitsipas (4th) continues on a downward curve after the runner-up in Roland Garros. The Greek, this time, they fell in the Hamburg quarterfinals to Filip Krajinovic (44th) 3-6, 6-1, 6-3.
During the first set, the Athenian dominated the actions of the game. He was superior in aces (3-0), points won (30-21), first serve hits (71%) and broke the Serbian twice. A real beast with his serve in the first round.
But then he couldn’t sustain his level. Krajinovic improved and, above all, overwhelmed him in the second set. There the Greek only won 12 points, while his rival won 27.
Although in the third the Greek at times matched the level of play of his rival, it was not enough. Krajinovic broke it twice and eliminated the best seed of the tournament.
With this defeat, Tsitsipas has chained two tournaments without exceeding the quarterfinals. At Wimbledon he was eliminated in the first round and Hamburg being in the top eight. In addition, he assured Rafael Nadal to maintain third place in the ATP ranking for at least three more weeks, since the Greek was his main threat to overcome him in the positions.
