Alun Wyn Jones returned to court in the British & Irish Lions’ 49-3 win over Stormers. The captain of the European team had suffered a shoulder injury during the first match of the tour against Japan and did not play a match again until today.
The second line should have left at seven minutes starting the match against the Japanese and with little expectation of being able to participate again in the tour after confirming the dislocation of your shoulder. Luckily for Warren Gatland, Jones managed to make his comeback in another British-Irish win against the South African side.
However, Jones managed to recover quickly and in the week he traveled again to South Africa to join his teammates. He did not play in the defeat to South Africa A due to the coronavirus protocols and, given the uncertainty about the situation in the African country, there was not too much certainty as to when the 35-year-old captain would return.
Alun Wyn Jones’ return finally came in a 49-3 win over Stormers. The second line entered at 53 minutes instead of Adam beard, who was voted Best Player of the Match by British & Irish Lions fans on social media.
