The Laver Cup is one of the exhibitions that started and are here to stay in recent times. In fact, it is an almost mandatory stop for top tennis players, who prioritize traveling to a city for a few days (the 2021 edition will take place in Boston, United States) to enjoy a show outside the requirement of ATP tournaments.
Although it does not deliver points for the ranking, the prestige-show (and money) weighs more in the balance. In that sense, John McEnroe, captain of Team World (Rest of the world), confirmed that Denis Shapovalov, Felix Auger Aliassime and Diego Schwartzman will be three of the players who will make up his team from September 24 to 26.
For the Argentine and number 13 in the world it will be his second participation and that is why he said that “the Laver Cup is a great event” and “playing in front of a packed stadium at the United Center in Chicago in 2018 was just incredible. I can only imagine, after the year we’ve all had, what the atmosphere will be like in front of a full throttle local crowd at TD Garden – it will be amazing. “
Top-ranked #TeamWorld players @denis_shapo @dieschwartzman and @felixtennis are confirmed to join captain John McEnroe’s team at #LaverCup Boston 2021.
