Nadia Podoroska and María Camila Osorio have confirmed rivals for their debut in the Tokyo Olympics: Argentina will face Putintseva while the Colombian will have her presentation before Golubic.
Podoroska faced Putintseva twice: the unforgettable Roland Garros 2020 (with a victory for Argentina) and this year’s Billie Jean King Cup, with a victory for the Kazakh.
Osorio makes his debut against Golubic (50th in the world) and if he wins, he would face Naomi Osaka, who has her presentation against the Chinese Zheng. The other Latin Americans on the block are the Mexican Renata Zarazua, who will debut against the Japanese Doi and the Paraguayan Cepede Royg, with a presentation against the Chinese Wang.
Barty, No. 1 in the world, makes her debut against the Spanish Sara Sorribes while Sabalenka (3rd seeded) goes against the Polish Linette. Her compatriot Swiatek (sixth seeded) will face Germany’s Barthel.
Other notable matches in the table are Mladenovic-Badosa, Svitolina-Siegemund, Pliskova-Cornet and Muguruza-Kudermetova.
