“I really wanted this moment to come. It is one of the ones I have been waiting for since I qualified for the Pan American Games in Lima 2019. Also, the fact that Mercedes Paz, my captain in the Billie Jean King Cup, is going as head of the tennis delegation gives me a lot of peace of mind, “he said. Nadia Podoroska, the number one in South America and Top 40 in the world.
Podoroska noted that this is the first time she will play with a male partner: “I’m going to play mixed doubles, it will be a nice experience. It seems to be a very relaxed competition and I am going to have a great partner in Horacio Zeballos ”.
“I told Nadia that we have to enjoy playing doubles. We are sure to do some sets in the week before to get to know each other a little on the court. In the mixed race, anything can happen because they are pairs that are put together without much prior filming, ”said Zeballos, Top 5 of the specialty (finalist at Wimbledon) and Podoroska’s partner at Ariake Tennis Park.
Osorio, who started the season in 186 and has climbed 106 places, did not hide his joy for a classification that came close to the trip to Tokyo. “I am very excited about this participation that I am going to have. It was a dream that I had for a long time. I am going to give everything on the field and enjoy,” said the native of Cúcuta and just 19 years old.
Osorio added: “I hadn’t planned to go to the Olympics but this is an unforgettable year. Full of blessings. Represent Colombia at the Games. Expectations about my performance? I want to show my best tennis ”.
