China's Yang Qian, first Olympic champion in Tokyo 2020

The Chinese marksman Yang Qian won this Saturday the first gold medal awarded at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games by winning the 10-meter air rifle final with a sum of 251.8 points, an Olympic record.

The silver medal, with 251.1, went to Anastasiia Galashina competing under the flag of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) for the suspension of his country, and bronze for the Swiss Nina Christen with 230.6.

The competition took place in the Asaka Hall of shooting in the Japanese capital.
