Bruno Cetraro and Felipe Klüver placed Uruguay among the 12 best of the Tokyo Olympics in the category of light double pair in rowing.
After finishing 6th in the qualifying series on Friday, they needed to break into the top three of their career in the playoffs to make it to the semi-finals.
With a record of 06: 36.87, the Uruguayans managed to finish in 3rd place behind Ukraine and Canada, and above Portugal, Chile and Thailand to rank among the top 12.
This performance is the best in Uruguay in the history of the Olympic Games in rowing, surpassing the performance of Beijing 2008, when Rodolfo Collazo and Ángel García reached 15th place.
Cetraro and Klüver will compete again on Monday at 11:18 p.m. in our country, in their semifinal series, where only the best three of each series will obtain the ticket to the final.
