Edinburgh Rugby has taken a big hit ahead of the 2021/22 season with the signing of two Argentine backs Emiliano Boffelli and Ramiro Moyano, although incorporation is still “subject to visa and medical review,” the team announced.
Boffelli, 26, who can play as a wing, fullback or to a lesser extent as a center, and Moyano, 31, a wing or fullback, will give Edinburgh Rugby’s baseline attacking options a significant boost.
Moyano, who has been international 36 times and was currently in Toulon, will join the team’s preseason preparations in the coming weeks, while Boffelli, who has been international 31 times, will make the change in October following the conclusion of the Rugby Championship. He recently left Racing 92.
On signing the duo, Edinburgh Rugby head coach Mike Blair said: “Edinburgh Rugby has been in contact with both players for some time now, so it is a real boost for them to join what is already a talented team.
“I am very excited to see both players perform and develop alongside our young Scottish talent. Competition for places is vital, so it will be great to see our younger stars improve and benefit from playing alongside guys of their international caliber.
“Both players have the ability to get the fans out of their seats. Their arrivals, along with record season ticket sales for our new home, really add to the excitement and anticipation for the upcoming season. ”
