Fiji entered the great history of rugby after winning the two-time Olympic championship in the sevens modality. The first Gold was obtained in Rio 2016 when they beat Great Britain in the defining match and the second in Tokyo 2020 beating New Zealand in the final.
One peculiarity is that the Fijian cast played, at both Olympics, the opening match against the home team. It was with victories in the two meetings: against Brazil by 40-12 and against Japan by 24-19.
In Rio they knew how to beat Argentina in the group stage by 21-14 already United States 24-19. Already in the quarterfinals they beat New Zealand 12-7, in semis to Japan 20-5 and in the final to Great Britain 43-7.
While, in Tokyo 2020, in the regular stage Fiji beat Canada 28-14 already Great Britain 33-7. In the quarterfinals he was able to beat Australia 19-0, in semis to Argentina by 26-14 Y in the decisive match against New Zealand 27-12.
Another singularity of Fiji in both Olympic tournaments, is that there is only one player who managed to hang the two Gold medals, it is Jerry Tuwai. It should be noted that in Rio 2016, rugby was once again an Olympic discipline after it was excluded in Paris 1924.
