Olympic tennis changes schedule due to heat wave

A sport that listens to its protagonists. Because in the last hours several voices were heard against the extreme temperature to which they were subjected to play an Olympic game match.

As a result, there was speculation about a possible restructuring of the schedules in the tennis program in Tokyo due to the high temperatures that are being experienced from the first hour.

“In the interests of the health and well-being of the players, and after extensive consultation, the ITF has announced a time change due to the increasing heat and humidity in Tokyo. The Olympic tournament matches will start at 3:00 p.m. from Thursday 29 of July”, explains the statement. The decision has been made in agreement with the IOC, the Organizing Committee and the Olympic operators, as well as with players, referees and medical experts, says the ITF.

Ask Paula Badosa (left the court in a wheelchair) and her compatriot Garbiñe Muguruza: “There is no need to get in to play with 37 degrees.” Even Diego Schwartzman himself reacted in a very curious way: “The game looked like The Walking Dead more than a tennis match.”
