Dominican Republic agenda for July 31 at the Olympic Games

Zacaría Bonnat and Euri Cedeño with respective commitments while the attention falls on the mixed 4×400 relay team after overcoming the controversy on Friday

The day at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games begins at dawn with the commitment of Zacaria Bonnat in weightlifting in the 81 kilogram category, from 2:50 am, Dominican Republic time.

The 25-year-old native of Bayaguana will face 9 other competitors in the snatch and clean and jerk modalities, in search of a medal.

The action continues at 8:35 a.m. with the 4×400 relay team mixed where they will compete with nations like Jamaica, Great Britain and Germany.

The team composed of Lidio Andrés Féliz, Marileidy Paulino, Anabel Medina Ventura and Luguelín Santos overcame the controversy this Friday after they were initially disqualified for an alleged offense committed by Paulino hindering an opponent.

According to what was reported by the Chief of Mission, Gerardo Suero, the Dominican team appealed the decision and the elimination was reversed, allowing the Dominicans to participate in the Grand Final this Saturday, with the hope of bringing the first medal to the country.

The day closes with the boxer Euri Cedeño in the quarterfinals of the 69-75 kilograms category, who has been the Dominican sensation in this discipline and has won his two previous fights.

The rival ahead of him is the Ukrainian Oleksandr Khyzhniak who has defeated the local Yuito Moriwaki last Wednesday.
