Springboks continue to strengthen

Jacques nienaber summoned three new players to the Springboks starting this week. They are Rosko Specman, Dan du Preez and Johan Grobbelaar who will join the team as soon as possible in Cape Town for the last match against the British & Irish Lions and the subsequent start of Rugby Championship in view of The Pumas.

It is the first time of Grobbelaar in the senior team of South Africa. The hooker has been a key figure for the Bulls during the last seasons and also represented the Junior Springboks on the World Rugby U20 Championship in Georgia in 2017.

On the other hand, they are Specman, who made his debut against last month after a successful run with the Blitzboks, Y Du Preez, who was one of the unfortunate few who missed both the game against Los Lelos and being part of the team of South Africa A after testing positive for Covid-19.

“We have a tough series with the Rugby Championship ahead of us after next Saturday’s decisive match against the British & Irish Lions and given the strict Covid-19 protocols that we have to adhere to, we have decided to bring in the players as soon as possible.”Nienaber said.

The players join Duane Vermeulen and Jaden Hendrikse, who were the other two additions to the team.

The Springboks will face the British & Irish Lions in the third and final Test in Cape Town on Saturday and then travel to Nelson Mandela Bay on Sunday for the first two Rugby Championship matches against Argentina on August 14 and 21 respectively.
