Dani Alves will fulfill his wish by playing against Mexico in the Tokyo 2020 semifinals. However, it will not be the first time that the Brazilian meets Tri, as he has faced the Aztec team on five occasions, which he has defeated three times, lost one and tied one more.
Alves made his debut for Brazil’s senior team in October 2006 and just a year later, at the 2007 Copa América, he had his first match against Mexico. That same year, but months later, he lived his second duel against the Mexican team, but that he did as a starter and played 60 minutes of the 3-1 triumph of Brazil with scores from Robinho, Kaká and Afonso Alves, while for the Tri , Juan Carlos Cacho scored in that preparation match.
It took four years for Mexico and Dani Alves to meet again. They did it in 2011 in a friendly match, the same as Canarinha won 2-1, despite the fact that Alves was sent off for a double yellow at 44 ‘. The goals of that commitment were from David Luiz, at his own door, as well as Ronaldinho and Marcelo.
In 2013 they collided again in an official match. It was in the group stage of the Confederations Cup, where Brazil won 2-0 with goals from Neymar and Jo.
The last confrontation between Dani Alves and the Mexican team took place in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. On that occasion they met in the group stage, but ended up dividing units with a 0-0 score.
The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games will put the Brazilian footballer and Mexico back on the same path, just after Dani Alves praised the game played by the team led by Jaime Lozano.

Already in the quarterfinals, they passed 1-0 against Egypt.
