The Washington Wizards are finalizing a sign-and-trade to acquire Brooklyn Nets free agent guard Spencer Dinwiddie on a three-year, $ 60 million deal, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Washington will send Chandler Hutchison and a 2022 second-round pick to the San Antonio Spurs as part of a multi-team trade, sources told Wojnarowski. Brooklyn gets a 2024 second-round pick and a 2025 pick change from the Wizards.
Adding Dinwiddie gives the Wizards a replacement for Russell Westbrook, whom the team agreed to trade to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Dinwiddie, 28, played just three games for the Nets last season after suffering a partial tear of the right anterior cruciate ligament against the Charlotte Hornets on Dec. 27.
The injury required surgery and he was out for the rest of the season. Dinwiddie then declined his player option of $ 12.3 million for the 2021-22 season to become an unrestricted free agent.
