The eleven of Mexico that was not in the Olympic Games or Gold Cup

There is a group of players that stood out last season and were not included in either of the two Mexican teams that participated in the summer in the Olympic Games or the Gold Cup.

Some were not considered and others were left without a call due to injury or personal problems, these are the 11 that could be in Tokyo or in the United States to raise the level of competition in one of the schools that had action during the summer.

Carlos Acevedo – Goalkeeper

The Santos goalkeeper was among the best goalkeepers of last season. The 25-year-old goalkeeper has attracted attention in Liga MX, but has not been considered in Gerardo Tata Martino’s Tricolor, despite the absence of goalkeepers such as Guillermo Ochoa and Malagón, who went to Olímpicos.

Julio César Cata Domínguez – Defense

Cata Domínguez closed the tournament as champion with Cruz Azul, in one of its best seasons. He has always been a starter with any coach who has passed through La Noria. Not even so was Gerardo Tata Martino considered to go to the Gold Cup.

Luis Fuentes – Defense

The América winger won the trust of Santiago Solari and was one of the best players for the Eagles in the previous tournament, but he went unnoticed in the Mexican teams. The doubts when he arrived at the Nest were many, but with work and good performances he kept silent, he is not a starter at El Tri, but an opportunity is not unreasonable if you are one of the best in a team like Azulcrema.

Gerardo Arteaga – Defense

The Belgian Genk side was focused on the Mexican Under 23 National Team, but at the last minute it was low, arguing personal problems. He returned to training with his club, was active in preseason games and played the entire 90 minutes in the third qualifying round of the Champions League.

Fernando Navarro – Defense

The León player has been one of the best players in the Liga Mx for several seasons, but an injury kept him from any possibility of being called up by Mexico. The medium has always asked for it for the national team, however, that great chance is increasingly seen further.

Omar Govea – Midfielder

The youth squad of America is a starter in Belgian football. At 25 years old, he has been considered by Tata Martino in some of the tours that the Tricolor had in Europe, but he did not have any calls for the summer competitions.

Luis Montes – Midfielder

The midfielder was on the list of players who went to the Olympics. In the Tricolor of Tata Martino he has no place, because he gave up the possibility of representing Mexico. Jaime Lozano did not consider it as a reinforcement for Tokyo 2020.

Andrés Guarded – Midfielder

Guarded was emerging as the Tricolor captain in the Gold Cup. An injury caused him to be out. Furthermore, despite his wishes, he was never considered to go to Tokyo 2020.

Javier Chicharito Hernández – Forward

Chicharito got hot at the start of the MLS tournament, accumulating up to 10 goals in his first games of the season. It was not taken into account by the Mexican National Team, due to an indiscipline in 2019. Mu

Carlos Vela – Forward

The LAFC player has repeatedly refused to play with Gerardo Tata Martino’s Tricolor, but on more than one occasion he flirted with the possibility of going to the Olympics. Jaime Lozano also responded to the attacker’s statements and even considered him in the pre-list, he ended up not being called.

José Juan Macías – Forward

The attacker from Getafe of Spain was in plans to go to the Olympics, but the signing with his current team changed the plans, in addition to an alleged injury. He saw the Tricolor, both the Gold Cup and Tokyo 2020, from Europe.
