Daniel Galán (113 °) could not continue with his great walk in the Washington ATP 500. The Colombian was defeated by Reilly Opelka (36 °) by 7-6 (1) and 6-3.
In a match where the South American could have won the first round and changed the result of the match, it was finally the North American who took over the tiebreak.
In the second set, Galán was not the same and Opelka took advantage of that. The only break point he had in favor, the American made it, despite the good effectiveness of the first service that the Colombian had.
In the next instance, Opelka will face John Millman (43rd), a rival with whom he was measured twice and with both wins for the Australian.
