Athletics and Baseball conclude Dominican participation in Tokyo 2020

Marileidy Paulino in the women’s 400 meter dash and the Dominican Baseball Team will complete the Dominican performance at the Olympic Games

Friday, August 6, will mark the end of the participation of the Dominican delegation in Tokyo 2020. In this edition, the Caribbean country achieved the highest number of medals for the same edition of Olympic Games with three and will have the opportunity to look for two more when Marileidy paulino and the Dominican Baseball Team compete.

In the case of Paulino, who competes in the Women’s 400 meter sprint, the Dominican runner has had two excellent races in which she has finished as the leader of her groups. In preliminaries he won comfortably against his rivals by setting a time of 50.06 seconds (the best among all the runners in that stage) and in the semifinals, she proceeded to demolish the qualifying time, the Dominican national record and her personal best by reaching the goal in 49.38 seconds.

So far, she remains one of the favorite runners to achieve a medal and will be the one to start the activity for Dominican Republic during Friday. Paulino will run at 8:35 AM (Dominican time).

The Dominican Baseball Team will play at 11:00 PM in a bronze medal match against South Korea. It will be the second match between both teams in Tokyo 2020.

The South Koreans defeated the Dominicans in their first meeting, leaving them on the ground during the ninth inning, by scoring three runs against the closer’s pitches. Luis Felipe Castillo.

Dominican Republic announced to Raul Valdes as the starting pitcher to face South Korea, again. In his first appearance against that team, he worked 5.1 innings in which he allowed seven hits and allowed one earned run, while striking out five batters and walking three. He made a total of 111 pitches of which 69 ended up being strikes.

A victory of the Dominican Republic would mean his first Olympic medal in baseball, while South Korea goes in search of his third medal.
