After 21 years, the Argentine men’s volleyball team will play against France in the semifinal of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The match will be this Thursday, August 5 from 9.00am.
Marcelo Méndez’s team reached this stage after eliminating Italy 3-2 in the quarterfinals. In the group stage they debuted with a 3-1 loss to the Russian Olympic Committee, then fell 3-2 to Brazil and then recovered after achieving three wins in a row: France, Tunisia and the United States.
Argentina will have two games to try to get a medal. The only one in the history of national volleyball was the bronze medal in the Olympic Games in Seoul 88.
Argentina would form with: Luciano De Cecco (4), Bruno Lima (14), Sebastián Solé (9), Agustín Loser (4), Ezequiel Palacios (18) and Facundo Conte (19). Libero: Santiago Danani. Substitutes: Matías Sánchez (-), Martín Ramos (-), Cristian Poglajen (4), Federico Pereyra (1).
In the final the Russian Olympic Committee is already waiting, which eliminated Brazil 3-1.
