Charles Fernández closes Guatemalan activity in Tokyo 2020

The national pentathlete will seek to climb positions in the final stretch of his sport

TOKYO, JAPAN – The Tokyo 2020 Olympics the curtain begins to fall and the last Guatemalan to see activity will be Charles Fernandez in the men’s individual event of the modern pentathlon.

Charles will dive into the water at the edge of midnight between Friday and Saturday in the second test in which he will see action, after finishing 29th and 178 points in fencing, with 13 wins and 22 losses.

The double Pan American champion will complete the 200 free meters at around 11:54 p.m. this Friday, in the swimming pool of the Tokyo Stadium. It will be in series 5 together to the German Patrick Dogue, the Hungarians Adam Marosi and Robert Kasza, the Lithuanian Pavels Svecovs and the Belarusian Ilya Palazkov.

After that he will take care of the fencing bonus and then give way to his best test, that of equestrian, at about 2:15 a.m. on Saturday.

The last test will be the combined shooting and running, agreed for 4:30 am. Competitors will start according to the number of points obtained in the previous tests. Whoever crosses the finish line first will get the gold medal.
