Coach Jaime Lozano opted for the Real Betis striker for the bronze medal match against Japan
Diego Lainez returns to Jaime Lozano’s starting box in the game for the Bronze against the Japan National Team. The Betis attacker had lost his title to Uriel Antuna, in the Olympic Tricolor, and regained his confidence.
Lainez has participated in all the games of the Olympic Mexican National Team in Tokyo 2020, but lost the title since the third game of the group stage. His place was taken by Uriel Antuna, who had performed well.
In the last game of Mexico in Tokyo 2020 and what the fight for the Bronze medal means, Jaime Lozano chooses Diego Lainez to start against Japan, the host country.
Jimmy Lozano says goodbye to the Olympic Tricolor with Guillermo Ochoa in goal; Jorge Sánchez, César Montes, Johan Vásqquez and Jesús Ángulo on defense, another of the novelties; as well as Luis Romo, Charly Rodríguez and Sebastián Córdova in the midfield.
In the attack appear Alexis Vega, Henry Martín and Diego Lainez, who had been absent from the starting eleven.
Mexico faces Japan for the second time in the tournament, after the host team played with Tricolor in the group stage and is the only rival to have beaten those led by Jaime Lozano in regular time.
The winner of the match between Japan and the Tricolor will win the bronze medal. The match conditions the return of Jaime Lozano’s team to Mexico, since in case of winning, the return will be on Sunday due to the award ceremony and a defeat would imply that they return on Saturday.
Jaime Lozano bets on Diego Lainez to seek the bronze medal and be the second Mexican soccer team to win a medal at the Olympic Games.
