Dominican Republic beats the forecasts and wins the bronze medal

The Dominican Baseball National Team took advantage of the uncontrolled South Korean pitchers to score five runs in the eighth inning and obtain an Olympic medal for the first time in its history.

The Olympic dream ended for the South Korea Baseball Team when falling defeated in front of a fierce team of the Dominican Republic in a tight match that ended up being defined in the eighth inning, when the Quisqueyanos achieved a five-run rally to put the score ten by six in their favor. The Dominicans achieved their first medal of Olympic Games in baseball and fifth overall in Tokyo 2020.

Dominican Republic opened the game with four touchdowns in the first inning, but got into trouble in the fifth when South Korea he ripped and took the lead six runs of five. It was in the eighth inning that thanks to the uncontrolled South Korean relay and the timely hitting of the MVP of the game, Juan Francisco, that the Dominicans were able to position themselves with a comfortable advantage that they would not lose again.

The win against South Korea represents the biggest victory for the Dominican Republic Baseball Team since they won the championship undefeated at the 2013 World Baseball Classic.

With its fifth medal, the Dominican Republic is in position number 65 of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic medal table, being the eleventh country in the American continent with the best position in it.
