USA wins 4x400 and Allyson Félix beats Carl Lewis

Allyson Félix raised her world record for Olympic medals to 11 by running second in the US 4×400 meter relay, which clinched the victory with 3: 16.85, the world’s best time since 1993, and a four-second margin over Poland (3: 20.53). The bronze went to Jamaica with 3: 21.24.

The 400m hurdles champion opened the race for the United States (with a world record, 51.46), who handed Felix a run of 49.96. The multi-medalist ran in 49.58, followed by Dalilah Muhammad in 48.97 and closed Athing Mu with 48.34.

The United States also dominated the last track race in athletics at these Games (only Sunday’s men’s marathon remains). With a time of 2: 55.70, Michael Cherry, Michael Norman, Bryce Deadmon and Rai Benjamin returned to North American athletics a title they had not won since Sydney.

The Netherlands, with 2: 57.18 (national record), beat Botswana in the duel for the silver medal, which set an African record with 2: 57.27, leaving Belgium of the Borlee brothers (Dylan and Kevin) off the podium.
