Kenya Lettuce was close to the medals, but their efforts weren’t enough

The Mexican shirt, Kenya Lettuce arrived with the hope of surpassing the place achieved in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, where he obtained the twelfth place in short rowing. However, five years later, the Mexican athlete stayed very close to the fight for a medal, so as the only representative of the delegation, she concluded her activity in the following way: Tokyo 2020.

The Mexican shirt greatly began its participation in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, after obtaining second place with 8.13 seconds, after being overtaken by the Irish Sanita Pušpure with a time of 7.46 seconds, however, the Monterrey t-shirt managed to overcome the Greek Kyridou, so in this way she obtained her pass from straight to the quarterfinals.

Already in the quarterfinals, Kenia Lechuga went to the semifinals C and D with a time of 8:09:29 so she took fourth place, however, despite obtaining the pass to the next phase, the Mexican lost the opportunity to compete for an Olympic medal.

Kenia Lechuga was beaten by Iri Malaei, for only two seconds, so the Iranian shirt surpassed him to finish in third place after achieving a time of 8:07:32 and entering the final phase after getting the pass at semifinals A and B.

After not achieving the best times of the competition, Kenia Lechuga did not remain among the first places, which is why it only played the semifinals in sector C and D, which add up to units for the world ranking.

After the achievement obtained, the 27-year-old athlete concluded her activity as the only Mexican who participated in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in this discipline, but did not manage to exceed the performance established in her first Olympic competition, when in Rio 2016 she obtained the twelfth place.
