ITIA provisionally suspends Peruvian tennis player

The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) provisionally suspended Peruvian tennis player Mauricio Echazú, as reported by the sports body itself.

Anti-Corruption Hearing Officer (AHO) Raj Parker provisionally suspended the 32-year-old player and number 657 in the ATP ranking, that is pending a hearing for the full consideration of the charges against him. The ITIA has not made those charges public at this time.

“From August 6, 2021, the player is prohibited from competing or attending any organized tennis event by the governing bodies of sport, “the agency said in the statement.

The ITIA may provisionally suspend athletes “before a Notice of Major Infraction has been issued, before a hearing, or at any time after a hearing but before the AHO issues a written decision.”
