PSG and a history always close to the Argentines

Lionel messi It is these days the great news of the world of sport, after his departure from Barcelona. And the PSG, a club to which he will arrive after 21 years with the Catalans, too. But the story between the Argentine players and the Parisian club did not begin with La Pulga. And he has many years of footballers of enormous hierarchy.

One of the first to wear the Paris Saint Germain jersey was Carlos Bianchi. Yes, the Viceroy, one of the most successful coaches in the history of Argentine football, was also a great scorer. The former coach of Vélez and Boca played between 1977 and 1979, when the club was less than a decade old. He did it with a tremendous goal record: he scored 71 in 80 games, leaving an indelible memory.

In those same years, the Cordoba defender Ramon Cacho Heredia, World Cup winner in Germany 1974, also played for PSG, although he only played 24 games.

In 1982 Osvaldo Ardiles, world champion with Argentina in the 1978 World Cup, he wore the PSG jacket in the middle of a forced exit from England by the Malvinas War.

Omar Da Fonseca (1985/1986), who participated in the first Ligue 1 won by the team, and Gabriel Calderon (1987/1990) joined later.

Two defenders today well known as coaches put on the shirt of the Parisian club: Mauricio Pochettino Y Gabriel Heinze. Pochettino, current coach of the team, played 95 games between 2001 and 2003 (six goals), while Heinze shared the squad with Poche and spent one more season, until 2004, playing 130 games (eight goals).

The ex River Martin Cardetti (2002/2003) Juan Pablo Sorin (2003/2004) and Marcelo gallardo (2007/2008), current coach of the Millionaire, also used those colors.

But as of 2010 was when more Argentines appeared on the Parisian club’s squad. Javier Pastore he played between 2011 and 2018 with 269 games and 45 goals. He is by far the Argentine who played the most games.

Then they came Ezequiel Lavezzi, Gio lo celso and the three Argentines who are currently: Angel Di María, Leandro Paredes Y Mauro Icardi.

To date, 16 players have registered their names with PSG. To them we must now add a certain Lionel Messi.
