The former Dallas Mavericks base, Jose Juan Barea, will return to the organization in a role yet to be defined, the player himself told Brad Townsend of The Dallas Morning News.
The Puerto Rican, who currently plays in the Puerto Rico basketball league with the Santurce Crabbers, was part of the ‘Mavs’ team on Saturday that faced the Denver Nuggets in the NBA Summer League.
Barea, 37, served as an assistant coach on Saturday.
The Puerto Rican played 11 of his 14 seasons with Dallas. He was a key piece, from the bench, for the Mavericks to surprise the Miami Heat of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in the 2011 Final.
This team was made up of the future Hall of Fame, Dirk Nowitzki, as well as the also immortal Kidd, new coach of the ‘Mavs’.
