Daniil Medvedev (2nd) and Reilly Opelka (32nd) will define the title at the Toronto Masters 1000. In the semifinals, these players defeated John Isner (30th) and Stefanos Tsitsipas (3rd), respectively. After knowing who will compete for the title this Sunday, a curious fact came to light.
During this 2021 all the tournaments of this category had different finalists. And for the first time since its establishment, there will be 10 different finalists (out of 10) in the first five M1000 tournaments.
Miami: Hurkacz and Sinner. Monte Carlo: Tsitsipas and Rublev. Madrid: Zverev and Berrettini. Rome: Nadal and Djokovic. Toronto: Medvedev and Opelka.
This confirms the parity that is having in the ATP circuit this season. Except, of course, when Novak Djokovic (1st) disputes the Grand Slam tournaments: for now, three out of three for the Serbian, when the US Open remains to be played.
