AMLO flags the Paralympic delegation that will attend Tokyo 2020

The Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games will begin on August 24 and end on September 5

The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, carried out the flag of the Aztec delegation that will participate in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. The president assured that athletes will always have the support of the government and pointed out that they are an example for the whole country.

In the facilities of the National Palace the Flagging Ceremony was held, Amalia Pérez and Edgar Barajas being the ones chosen to carry the flag in the Japanese joust. In the event, Claudia Sheinbaum, Head of Government of Mexico City, and Ana Gabriela Guevara, General Director of CONADE, accompanied the President of Mexico, who dedicated an emotional message to the members of the Paralympic delegation and stressed that those who finish in fourth position will be treated as if they had won a medal.

“Since before being here they have been deserving of medals, for all the effort they have made with the support of their families, coaches, that is why we are very pleased that here in the national palace, which is the people’s house, we carry out this ceremony , to wish them well, we are sure that they will have an outstanding performance, because they are and it is more than proven, fighting women and men, struggling, persevering, who defy adversity, and do not lose faith and hope, they are full of life, for that reason, we are sure that they will do very well, they will represent an extraordinary country, with a millenary culture, the greatness of Mexico comes from its cultural tradition, that is what has always carried us forward.
