The Mexican soccer player, Héctor Herrera, is part of the exclusive group of most valuable players who came free to a club, in the history of football.

According to the site Transfermarkt, the former player of the Tuzos del Pachuca occupies the 20th position of the most valuable zero-cost transfers together with top-level players such as Lionel Messi or Robert Lewandowski. The market value of ‘HH’ when signing with Atlético de Madrid in 2019 was 22 million euros.

Herrera, 31, came to the Old Continent in 2013 to play with the Porto of Portugal and although he did not have an easy start in the Primeira Liga, the native of Rosarito, Baja California, managed to consolidate himself as one of the leaders of the Dragons to the point of becoming captain.

Being an idol of Porto, Herrera attracted the attention of several European clubs being the Athletic one of the most interested.
