Casper Ruud became the latest addition to the Team Europe for the Laver Cup this year to be held at the TD Garden in Boston from September 24-26. In this way, the European line-up will have six of the eleven best players in the world.
The Norwegian will accompany the world number 2 and champion in Toronto Daniil Medvedev, Roland Garros finalist and recent Top 3 Stefanos Tsitsipas, Olympic gold medalist Alexander Zverev, Andrey Rublev and Matteo Berrettini, after the casualties of Roger Federer due to knee surgery and Dominic Thiem with a right wrist injury.
“I am very excited to have the opportunity to represent the European team at this year’s Laver Cup. It is a great honor to play with such an accomplished group of teammates and to be under the guidance of our captain, Bjorn Borg, ”said Ruud.
In the other side, Argentine Diego Schwartzman and Canadians Denis Shapovalov and Felix Auger-Aliassime were appointed by the Team world by John McEnroe so far. The remaining three players will be announced this week.
