Rest of the World Captain John McEnroe named Americans Reilly Opelka and John Isner along with Australian as the last players to represent the team in next month’s competition.
The trio will join Canadians Denis Shapovalov and Felix Auger-Aliassime and Argentine Diego Schwartzman to complete the main lineup. “Reilly had a great week in Toronto to get to the final and I’m really impressed with his recent form,” McEnroe said.
Opelka moved up nine spots last week to reach career-high 23rd. after his impressive victory over the world number 3 and player of the Team Europe Stefanos Tsitsipas, en route to his first Masters 1000 final, in Toronto.
“I am very excited to represent the Rest of the World at the Laver Cup in Boston,” said Opelka.
McEnroe’s men will try to snatch the victory for the first time in the new competition to those led by Bjorn Borg after three defeats in a row: Prague in 2017, Chicago in 2018 and Geneva in 2019.
