De Bruyne, Jorginho and Kanté nominated for Player of the Year 20/21

The Belgian Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City), the Italian Jorginho (Chelsea) and the Belgian N´Golo Kanté (Chelsea) have been the players nominated this Thursday by UEFA for the award of the best Player of the Year of the 2020 season / twenty-one.

The winner of this award will be announced at the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League group stage draw ceremony, which will take place on Thursday 26 August at the Haliç Congress Center in Istanbul, Turkey.

The final list of three candidates was selected by a jury made up of the 24 selectors whose combined participated in Euro 2020 and by the 80 coaches from the clubs that were in the group stages of the European Cup and the Europa League. In addition, 55 journalists from each of the UEFA member associations, selected by the European Sports Media (ESM) group, also participated.

Finally, the coaches and journalists were asked to select a list of three players, assigning respectively five, three and one point to each of them. The final result was based on the total number of votes cast by the coaches and journalists. Coaches were not allowed to vote for players on their own team.
