Agustín Marchesín underwent knee surgery and will be out for at least a month

LISBON – The Argentine goalkeeper of Porto Agustín Marchesin, who arrived in the summer of 2019 from Mexican America to replace Iker Casillas, has not started the season on the right foot: in the first two days he was a substitute and in the last hours he has undergone surgery for a meniscus injury.

After two campaigns of undisputed ownership and considered one of the best goalkeepers in the Portuguese championship, in the first two league games, coach Sérgio Conceiçao decided to bet on 21-year-old goalkeeper Diogo Costa.

The start of the season has been further complicated by the loss of several weeks that he will have to endure after injuring the medial meniscus in his right knee.

As reported by the club, in the last hours he has undergone arthroscopy at the São Francisco hospital in Porto.

The goalkeeper is at least expected to be around one month off until you fully recover.

Marchesín was the substitute goalkeeper with Argentina in the Copa América who ended up beating Brazil 1-0 in the final played on July 11, since coach Lionel Scaloni always trusted Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez for the starting eleven.
