The Pumas will face the Springboks this Saturday, for the second day of the Rugby Championship. In case of winning, the Argentine team could climb to a historic position.
The Pumas they could climb to their best ever position (3rd) in the World Rugby Rankings, if they manage to beat the Springboks by more than 15 points. For the world champions, the first place will remain assured, regardless of any result.
If Los Pumas succeed a victory over South Africa by less than 15 points, they are guaranteed to climb two places, from sixth in the world rankings to fourth, beating Ireland and France.
A tie would do that the team led by Mario Ledesma is positioned above France and ranks fifth, but a defeat would mean a slip to the seventh position, below Australia.
The different scenarios according to the result of Los Pumas:
The Pumas will rise to the third position in the ranking if they beat South Africa by more than 15 points.
The Pumas will climb to fourth position if they win by 15 or less points.
The Pumas will be in fifth place if they tie with the Springboks.
The Pumas will drop to seventh position if they lose to the Boks.
