The president of the Venezuelan Federation reported that José Peseiro resigned from the national team, two weeks after a triple FIFA Date
Technical director José Peseiro submitted his resignation to the Venezuelan national team and is owed one year’s salary, informed the president of the Venezuelan Football Federation (FVF), Jorge Giménez.
“Yesterday we received a letter from the technical director terminating his contract; we spoke with him at night, we made him understand and explain that it is quite difficult for us to accept it, although we understand it, because we have a triple FIFA date in 15 -17 days to assume, “Giménez said at a press conference.
The president of the federation assured that Peseiro asked for time to reflect on his decision, although finally this Friday morning he ratified his resignation, “not so much for him, but for his coaching staff.”
He also explained that the coach’s contract, made by the previous management of the FVF, indicated that he could only receive money in his account in euros from the federation, but which is currently not active because they are still in the process of drawing the previous signatures and having the new certificate.
“The national coach is owed a year of salary, so he has received almost nothing from his management; it is worth noting that the little he has received is managed by us without having reached the FVF (board of directors),” added Giménez.
Expressed that Peseiro has valid reasons to resign “and we must be very grateful” for their work.
“The teacher gave body and soul everything that was in his hands,” he said.
In addition, the president of the FVF indicated that the new directive encountered a number of financial problems and acquired commitments that have not been fulfilled. “U20 prizes that have not yet been paid,” he mentioned.
Giménez explained that the football federation did not have a legal consultant and that they have started a restructuring process, added to an audit process by FIFA.
“This is a consequence of everything that has been experienced by the FVF, as it has been handled in the past. We must do things differently and this is a difficult process, but I believe that we are up to the commitment,” he said.
José Peseiro was hired as Venezuela’s coach in February 2020, filling the vacancy of Venezuelan Rafael Dudamel, who left the technical direction because he signed for Atlético Mineiro de Brasil.
The 18 of August, The now ex-technician of the country announced a preliminary call list for the matches against Argentina, Peru and Paraguay for the South American qualifiers for Qatar 2022.
This first call, which has 55 players, had to be later reduced by Peseiro and his team. At the moment the FVF did not announce a replacement for the technical director.
