As of New Zealand’s decision not to appear in Perth to play the match corresponding to the second round of the Rugby Championship and the suspension of matches against the Springboks on the oceanic continent, South Africa Rugby informed SANZAAR that they are willing to host the remainder of the tournament on their land.
Jurie Roux, CEO of South Africa Rugby said: “We have already informed SANZAAR that we are ready to carry out the rest of the competition in South Africa, depending on the approval of the Government. ” To this, he added: “We are trained to carry out the tests with the current Covid-19 restrictions, we have the place and the necessary accommodations. We just have to move forward ”.
For its part, SANZAAR announced that the latest COVID-19 outbreak in Australia and New Zealand caused a big problem for the match schedule, accompanied by increasingly strict measures for flights and quarantines.
Finally, it should be noted that the Springboks and Los Pumas were supposed to fly to Australia on Sunday night, but the flight is suspended until a new fixture is confirmed for the remainder of the tournament, a decision that the organization will make as soon as it resolves different issues.
