Lautaro Martínez told Inter that he wants to stay

Giuseppe Marotta, Inter Milan’s CEO, assured this Saturday, in the run-up to the match on the first day of Serie A against Genoa, that Argentine Lautaro Martínez confirmed to the club that he wants to stay.

“Lautaro is one of those players who explicitly said they want to stay with us, despite having had offers from other clubs,” Marotta said in statements to Italian television “DAZN”.

“He wants to confirm that he is the champion that we have already seen and we are convinced that he will do so,” he added.

Lautaro, whose contract with Inter expires in 2023, remained as Inter’s main asset after the sales of Belgian Romelu Lukaku, passed to Chelsea for 115 million euros, and Moroccan Achraf Hakimi, transferred to Paris Saint Germain for seventy million.

El Toro, champion of the Copa América last July with Argentina, could not play this Saturday against Genoa at San Siro due to being suspended.

The Bahía Blanca forward, who turns 24 this Sunday, scored 17 goals in Serie A 2020-2021, won precisely by Inter.
