Costa Rican athletes refine details for their Paralympic Games debut

Steven Román will be the first to enter the competition and will be the flag bearer of the Costa Rican delegation along with Camila Haase

The beginning of the Paralympic Games and the delegation of Costa Rican athletes are already arriving at Tokyo and some are already training in their preparation fields to be 100% for their competitions.

Para athletes like Camila haase (For Swimming), Steven Roman (For Table Tennis), José Pablo Gil (Wheelchair Tennis), Diego Quesada (For Archery), Sherman Guity and Melissa Calvo (Para Athletics), are already in the Japanese capital adapting to the different conditions they will have to face once their turn comes to represent Costa Rica.

The first to have activity will be Steven Roman who arrived in Japan a few days ago and is getting comfortable to compete next Wednesday, August 25.

“For me it was a dream to be here, since I saw it at the Olympics I want to be here, it’s spectacular, just to be in a few Paralympic Games“Said Román.

Likewise, the rest of the athletes had their first contacts in their training places and they feel very excited that their turn will come.

“This first training session was mostly to relax the muscles, a gentle workout, we come from a long trip, the pool is quite fast and beautiful, you have to enjoy it” he mentioned Camila Haase who will be the standard bearer of the national delegation along with Roman.

Those who compete outdoors have to manage to deal with the high temperatures as they reach up to 34 degrees Celsius and the humidity percentage exceeds 60%.

“The truth is that I am very excited, it is what I expected, you could not expect less than Tokyo, I love the track and I want to make the most of it ”he mentioned Sherman Guity.
