Federico Coria (61 °) and Guido Pella (84 °) had very different debuts in the first round of the Winston-Salem ATP 250. While the Rosario had a victory, the Bahiense said goodbye with a defeat.
On court 3, the 2016 Davis Cup champion made his presentation against Jordan Thompson (59th). The Australian overwhelmed the Argentine in the first set 6-1 and then lost in the second also 6-1. In the defining set, the oceanic won 6-3 and cut the good performance that Pella had been having on American cement.
Different was the case of Rosario. In almost three hours of play, he eliminated one of the toughest players on the circuit like the Italian Musetti. The final score was 6-4, 4-6 and 6-4 in favor of the runner-up at the Bastad Open. With this victory Coria continues to extend his good moment and does not lose in a debut since Wimbledon.
