Historic All Black Sean Fitzpatrick is unhappy with the way international rugby is put together, as he is pulled out of the clubs by top players to play in their respective countries.
The former player, who today fulfills the role of coach in Scarlets, expressed the need for there to be a “Club window”, given that he is concerned about the situation of local rugby in Welsh: “We need local competitions to generate income, we cannot continue playing without our most important players.” The former hooker suggests fewer internationals to be available at his clubs.
On the other hand, Fitzpatrick believes that rugby could be even bigger and better globally: “It can be an amazing product. You have to connect with fans from America and Asia, but for that you have to have the good product to offer them ”. In addition, he demonstrated his illusion that there is a Club World Cup and raised the question of sport 20 years from now: “Competitions could change in the long term.”
