Néstor Gorosito takes over as the new coach of Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata

Néstor “Pipo” Gorosito will become this Tuesday the new coach of Gymnastics and Fencing La Plata, and will direct his first practice in the afternoon at the Estancia Chica property with a view to Sunday’s meeting in Mendoza against Godoy Cruz from 1:30 p.m. , for the tenth date of the Professional League.

After holding a meeting with members of the Board of Directors on Monday night where they closed the agreement, DT Gorosito arrived this afternoon in the Buenos Aires capital to sign the contractual link until December 2022.

Gorosito, 57, comes to Gimnasia to replace Leandro Martini and Mariano Mesera, who were fired last Sunday after the previous Saturday’s goalless draw against Huracán for the ninth round of the Professional League.

The new coach, who will be accompanied by Jorge Borelli and Gustavo Zapata as field assistants, Sebastián Somoza, physical trainer and Marcelo Villasanti, goalkeeping coach, will have his first match against the “Lobo” squad on Tuesday and then it is expected to be presented to the press.

Gorosito comes from directing Olimpia of Paraguay in 2020, which was proclaimed champion of the Paraguayan soccer tournament.

Gorosito’s last experience in soccer in our country was in Tigre, where he won the 2019 League Cup title.

He was also coach of Nueva Chicago (2003), San Lorenzo (2003-2004), Lanús (2005), Rosario Central (2006-2007), Argentinos Juniors (2007-2008) and (2014-2015), Xeres de España (2008 -2009), River Plate (2010), Tigre (2012-2013), Almería de España (2015-2016), San Martín de San Juan (2017-2018).
