The Argentine men’s soccer team for the blind, Los Murcielagos, beat Thailand 3-0 on Tuesday and closed the group stage of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games with an ideal score.
The Murcielagos will now face China on Thursday from 4.30 (Argentine time) in one of the semifinals and if they win they will secure a medal.
Maximiliano Espinillo, Ángel Deldo and Nicolás Véliz scored the goals for the third triumph of the Argentine team that finished in first place in group B with an ideal score. Argentina did not give up points in the initial phase, as they previously beat Morocco 2-1 and Spain 2-0. Those 4 goals were scored by Espinillo.
The Argentine men’s soccer team for the blind is looking for his first Paralympic gold medal in Tokyo 2020, after winning silver in Athens 2004 and bronze in Beijing 2008 and Rio de Janeiro 2016.
Argentina, in addition, was twice world champion of the specialty (2002 and 2006) and winner of the Copa América three times (1999, 2005 and 2017).
